Shanikwa Aphrodite LaTocha Jones was born January 18, 1983 in Madison, WI. Her parents Maybeline and George Jones divorced shortly after her birth. Even at an early age Shanikwa had the creative bug. She attended Sun Prairie's school system until she was in third grade.

At that time her grandmother, Betsy Boos, came into some money and wanted to spend her dying years with her daughter and grandchildren. So Maybeline, Shanikwa, and younger brother, Brucey, went to live with Betsy in Muncie, Indiana. During this time Betsy taught Shanikwa the tricks of the trade for performance as well as home schooling. At age 12 Shanikwa ran away from the family for ten months to rebel.

In 1996 Betsy's terminal illness finally took its toll and she passed away. Shanikwa, devastated, pleaded with her mother to leave Indiana and return home to Wisconsin. At 14 years old Shanikwa got her wish and the family returned to their roots.

Shanikwa enrolled at Sun Prairie High School, where she dubbed the nickname: Shanikwa Shanikwa and “Shee, short for Shanikwa.”   At this time she also met her first love, and future father of her child, Danté Devons.

Danté and Shanikwa became inseparable causing lots of drama for the Joneses. Shanikwa finally revealed to Danté and family that her best friend, Shanae, had been raising her daughter JeZelZa and that Danté was the father.   The Jones family took JeZelZa with open arms and forgave Danté and Shanikwa for their deception.

“A child will make mistakes. And my daughter has made them very early in her life. I know she will be blessed with the Lord's forgiveness,” Maybeline speaking out for Shanikwa at a teen pregnancy awareness program they later sponsored.

Shanikwa later dropped out of high school and decided that raising her child was more important than education. She reconsidered a year later and got her high school equivalency diploma.

“Educate yourself!” Shanikwa has said several times both on video and in person.

The fall of 2003 Shanikwa finally married her long time boyfriend Danté Devons. He took on her last name, breaking tradition, becoming Mr. And Mrs. Shanikwa Jones. They honey mooned in Chicago. Returning in the winter from Chicago, Danté joined the Navy and was relocated to Iraq and then Japan. Causing much turmoil for the new family.

In November 2006 Shanikwa was contracted by J17 Productions to begin filming her Internet talk show, The Shanikwa Shanikwa Show. Having filed for divorce from long time husband Danté, due to his indiscretions with a local Japanese girl, Shanikwa had a new out look on life. So she went ahead and began filming her new show.

Shanikwa's show may have a small audience, but it still has had a lot of hits. To date we've counted over 7,000 collective views. We know Shanikwa is going places. Now with a movie made about her, debuting later this summer, she is sure to become an even better success. We wish her the best of luck.
